This was definitely an interesting book. A real good look at a cartel's structure, starting with the dirty cops and local drug deals and ending with the enforcers and the big guy who runs the show.
Our story follows Lilly O'Hara a twenty-three year old, who in my opinion, had the mentality of a teenager. Lilly was seriously the most naive person in the world. She lives at home with her parents, who treat her like she's a child until she ends up pregnant by a local dealer and in the hospital.
From that moment on, Lilly's life spirals out of control and before she finds herself married to the head of the cartel. Bad things start to happen, and always on or around Easter Sunday after that.
The book spans a course of years, and while I absolutely find myself loving it, there is at least one thing that bothered me, aside from the grammatical errors I found, Dieguito, her son with the local dealer, is barely mentioned throughout the book until almost the end. With all the time Lilly spent in that house, she seemed to care about which brother to have sex with than with her own child, who was always left with a nanny, even though his mother never went anywhere.
Lilly's sexual appetite I found to be a slightly annoying. She never seemed to know who wanted to be with and threw fits and got "confused" whenever she was caught by her husband.
All in all, the book was still able to hold my attention and I am really eager to read Brother Number Three, which is the second book in the series.

Easter's Lily by Judy Serrano is one of those books that you just can not put down. At least I could not. Here is a brief synopsis of the book It was Easter Sunday; the day Lilly's life went from safe and comfortable to dangerously unfamiliar. Her transformation takes her from a small town girl having an affair with a low ranked gangster in the Montiago crime syndicate, to a woman of grace and fortitude married to the head of the organization. Easter's Lilly is an inspired journey from the idyllic to the darker side of self-discovery. Read as the over-privileged brothers embark on their journey that twists and turns down the road of unbridled passion in this first book of the series.

This book was amazing to read. When I found out that it was the first in the series I was hooked and had to read the other books as well. Look for my reviews on the other ones in the upcoming months. But this book sets the tone and the background for all the others. Lily is a girl who like myself is the daughter of a chief of police but that is where the similarities end. She is drawn to a no good drug dealer who leaves her to be taken of by a bigtime Mexican Mafia Gangster. She is drawn to this man but yet feels a pull to his younger brother. Lily is like one of those wrecks we see on the highway you don't want to look but somehow you can not help yourself. This is one of better series I have read in a long time. I liked how the author leaves the reader hanging at the end so they have to buy the next book in the series. ( Great marketing ploy there) If you are interested in this book you can win one for yourself just by

An okay book. Story line is good. Fast paced and intriguing. Full of suspense, lies and betrayal. And in the midst of it all is Lilly, and that's where I have my problem. I can understand why the younger two brothers are so fond of her, in a way Diego too, and why she is so important to them all. But I don't get why She was being threatened there in the end by Jorge. What has she got to do with it? I mean, other than her being the wife of one and the lover of other, she didn't really have that much part in him being arrested and all. It seemed like he blamed her for his fall. I don't see why. And I couldn't understand what all that trial was about, I mean the divorce case was already settled, but when she took the stand she was asked all sorts of questions about her relationship with the brothers. It's like whether Diego was cuckolded or not was more important than his being a drug lord. There was no mentioned of their crimes, only about the fidelity of the parties involved!

Since the chapter after Little Diego was born there was no mention of him again till chapter 16. It's like the author had completely forgotten about the little guy. Then when Lilly got pregnant again, I was like, 'hey didn't she already have another baby, where is he?' He of course was brought into the picture again when he was needed.

Diego's sudden change of heart? Ummm.....too unbelievable if you ask me. The things he did before were really too disgusting, but he is being forgiven. Too easily, I might add. I don't get how Lilly could even be in the same room with him. The same goes for Johnny too. Only Hector seems to be the one wary of Diego.

And speaking of Hector, you can tell he is already in line to be Lilly's next lover. They may say they're like brothers and sisters, but I don't buy any of it. Lilly is already falling for him. Anyone who shows a little bit of kindness towards her is in danger of falling to her charms. I am not surprise Max is always suspicious, considering how he ended up being with her. The same is happening with his other brothers. She is too fickle minded. Sure she is strong in the sense that she is being thrown into this horrid crime world, and always comes out more or less unscathed. I just have this problem that she can't seem to stop reacting to any advances from the men. She half-heartedly stops them which is useless. At the end of the book, I was seriously beginning to doubt her feelings for Max. I am all Team Max and I hated that.

And then there are the minor characters. Way too many of them were introduced or mentioned, I couldn't keep up. I got so confused who was who sometimes that I had to go back and reread some parts.

I will be reading the next part of the book tonight most probably. The name of the book already tells us what I already suspect. But I want to find out who she finally chooses in the end. And is Johnny and his brothers, the Irish mafia, really as scary and powerful as they seem? I guess I will find out soon.
